If your hard drive has failed and you need a new one, it’s a good idea to choose the right manufacturer. You will certainly need to know the type of computer –whether it’s a laptop, desktop, server, or other device- in order to determine whether you need an ATA, SATA, RAID or another type of drive, as well as other specifications.
Choosing the right storage space for your computer will also be important as it can impact performance. The larger the storage capacity, the higher the processing speeds you should have as well as internal memory.
Below is a list of different hard drive manufacturers that you can read about and determine which one is best for your existing computer system. If you have any questions about choosing a new hard drive, don’t hesitate to contact Dave’s Computers. We’ll be more than happy to walk you through the process and assist you in getting the ideal hard drive for your computer.

In 1999, Toshiba took control of the Fujitsu hard drive operation and that has helped them to continue as as pioneer of small form factor storage. Today, they offer a full range of solid state drives that can deliver the high performance, durability, and reliability that is required by today’s mobile, hand-held, and stationary electronic devices that are data-hungry and power sensitive.
One of the PC and notebook storage products they offer is the 3.5 inch DT01ACA Series. It has a storage capacity of up to 3 TB and a rotational speed of 7200. Toshiba also has a line of 2.5 inch hard drives for laptops including the Mkxx59GSM Series. These laptop internal hard drives have a capacity of up to 1 TB and a rotational speed of 5400.
The Fujitsu Corporation is the world’s 2nd leading provider of information technology services, just behind IBM. They manufacture a wide variety of personal computers, telecommunications equipment, and advanced microelectronics. The company has a long history of innovation in advanced research and development in the area of hard disk drives. Based out of Tokyo, Japan the company has over 170,000 employees world-wide.
On October 1st of 2009, Fujitsu transferred its hard drive business over to the Toshiba Corporation. While Fujitsu still sells storage devices such as cloud computing solutions, it no longer makes its line of solid state hard drives.
