If you are trying to boot up your iMac and you get an error message that says your fan isn’t working or your iMac’s fan is just particularly loud (or quiet), you may need some help. Computers (and all technology) make plenty of heat as you work and they need to be calmed down. Your fan takes on a majority of the work, trying to keep those delicate pieces at the optimal temperature. As these pieces are so delicate, it is important to get your fan working on heat management as soon as possible. If not, you could damage something far more important.
How can we repair your computer? Sometimes, you don’t actually need the complete fan replaced. Sometimes we can help to fix blades that are stuck. We will use solutions that remove gunk and grime and then carefully remove what is stopping them. If there’s any way we can get your fan back in working order without performing a full replacement, we will absolutely try to do that first.
We may also look at something called the “CPU thermal paste,” this is a solution that helps to transfer heat out of the CPU and into the heatsink. If possible, we may replace that paste and may not even have to touch your iMac’s fan.
Of course, if it is necessary, we can completely replace the fan for you. We can even upgrade the fan that you currently have so that you will have one of the most powerful fans out there to deal with the heat.
You also want to be sure that you have sufficient ventilation around your laptop, you aren’t blocking the air vents with anything stacked up against the sides, you regularly dust your ports, and you don’t use your laptop on a soft surface where this could happen. These are just a few of the tips we can give you once we replace your iMac fan with a brand new one.
