Because there are so many things that can go wrong with technology, we have to focus on offering solutions for both common and uncommon issues. Below you can read a bit about some of the more popular problems that we tend to see with iMacs and what we can do to get everything working properly again!
Even though Apple comes out with new products every year, the products from several years ago still look trendy and modern. Their products are made with high-quality materials and the hardware can withstand several years of handling and daily use.
To make sure you get the longest life out of your iMac as possible, we offer iMac refurbishment services. During this we will run a full diagnostic test, replace or upgrade parts that need a tune up, upgrade the software, upgrade or replace the drive, along with any other improvements your iMac needs.
When a computer’s screen is cracked, your iMac basically becomes an expensive paperweight that takes up space. Apple does the work to make sure that the screens not only produce high-quality images and displays, but unfortunately, they can crack, become damaged, or break. This usually happens from impacts from a fall or water damage from a spill or dropping your laptop bag in a body of water.
On that note, make sure to get a waterproof laptop bag to prevent water damage in the first place! Our iMac screen replacement service is one of the most popular services we offer. Not only can we replace the screen on your iMac, but we can replace the screen on your Macbook, Apple watch, or any other Apple device.
Every iMac has internal speakers that generate audio so that you can watch movies, listen to music, and hear your friends and family during Facetime calls. Just like any other speakers on the market, the ones in your iMac can become blown or succumb to damage.
If you want your iMac speakers to produce crisp and clear audio like they did when you first bought it, we’re here to help! Fixing speakers isn’t the easiest job and unless you’re trained on how to do it, you shouldn’t attempt to fix it yourself as it could make the problem worse. Our team has performed several iMac speaker replacements and they’d love to help you with yours!
Some Apple users may experience a black or blue screen when they boot up their computer. Sometimes issues like the desktop screen not loading occur and can quickly become frustrating, especially when you’re trying to get work done. Here at Dave’s Computerss, we have plenty of experience fixing booting issues that iMacs have.
Even though computers can be complicated and quite technical, booting errors tend to be related to only a few root issues. One of these issues is a quick fix, while the other is a bit more complicated. However difficult the job is, we can get your iMac free of the black or blue screen and ready for use again in no time!
The thing is, if a device has any storing capabilities, it can lose data. This can be detrimental for anyone, whether you have important work documents on your computer, precious family photos, or a school project that you were almost finished with.
There is a built-in data recovery program on iMacs called Time Machine. Our experts work with that app and use our own recovery tools to get back as much of what was lost as we possibly can. This is a more time-consuming task and there’s no promise that we can get everything back, but we have a great track record of doing just that!
If you suspect that something is wrong with your iMac, you can bring it in and we’ll run a full system diagnostic to see if there is a problem. If there is, we’ll pin point it and let you know what the issue is and how we can help!
In addition to all of the issues above, we can help with even more to get your computer working exactly how you want it to! Believe it or not, we can help remove viruses and malware from your computer, replace the hard drive, and even replace the processor or RAM. If you’re wanting to sell your iMac and restore it for the new owner, we can do the job for you quickly and efficiently!
While we can fix just about any computer problem you bring to us, there are some issues that you may be able to address from the comfort of your own home. This can save you money and remove the hassle of waiting for your computer to be fixed by someone else, even if it’s done quickly.
The most common issues that iMac users run into are the following:
- Black or blue screen while starting the computer
- Lost or accidently deleted documents
- A question mark appearing randomly on one of your folders
Below we address what you can do from your own home or office to try to fix the issue before bringing it to us. Let’s take a look at how easy some of these things are to fix!
Follow these instructions to attempt to fix the screen issue that you’re having.
- Power on your computer and press the power button again once as soon as the black screen appears
- Press down on “S” as you hold down the power button until the computer shuts off
- Wait for between 20 and 30 seconds
- Power up the computer again and the issue may be fixed!
To find your lost or deleted files, you can try the following hack:
- Press the command key and the space bar
- “Spotlight” should appear, use this to search for the file you’ve lost.
- If that doesn’t work, open up Time Machine and search there
The question mark over a folder is the iMac telling you they can’t find the boot disk. This sounds complicated, but fixing it is usually fairly easy.
- Hold down the command and “R” key as you power on the iMac
- Let go of the power button while continuing to hold the other two buttons until the Apple logo appears
- Manually choose your main hard drive from the options listed
- If this doesn’t work, repeat steps one and two again, then select First Aid
