Windows 10 – We couldn’t connect to the update service

Windows Update Issue for January 2019

"We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."

For those unable to connect to Windows Update service to perform Windows 10 updates. A fix that works for us in "New Jersey" has been switching your DNS to Google's Public DNS.

-Their DNS is 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

Once you save the change restart your computer and check for updates. They should go thru as normal.
