My computer won't turn on. What do I do?
Bring it in. That's one of the most common and most diagnosable problems we see. It could be a failed hard drive, dead battery, bad power jack, or a motherboard issue. The $75 diagnostic tells you exactly what's wrong before we charge anything for the repair itself.
Do you fix Macs as well as Windows computers?
Yes. All brands. Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Microsoft Surface, Apple MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and custom builds. Same flat-rate process for all of them: diagnostic, quote, your approval, then the repair.
Can you recover data from a failed hard drive?
In many cases yes. Data recovery starts at $199. The sooner you bring it in after a failure, the better your chances. We work on a no-data, no-charge basis, if we can't recover your files, you don't pay for the attempt.
Is my data safe while it's at your shop?
Your device never leaves our Somerville location. We don't subcontract repairs or ship to third-party centers. All work is done in-house by our own technicians. If a part needs to be ordered, your machine stays with us until everything's done.
My laptop only charges when I hold the cable a certain way. What's that?
Almost always a failing power jack: very common on laptops that get heavy daily use. It happens when the internal solder joint starts to break from repeated cable stress. It's fixable, usually at a reasonable cost, but it gets worse over time if ignored. Drop it off and we'll catch it in the diagnostic.
What if it's not worth repairing?
We'll tell you before you spend money on the fix. If the repair cost is close to what the machine is worth, we give you a straight recommendation. You pay the $75 diagnostic fee and leave with a clear picture, not a big bill on a machine that was already on the way out.
Is there a new customer discount?
Yes. New customers get $25 off labor on their first repair. Mention it when you drop off. Full terms in the coupon section below.
