Perth Amboy is a city that works hard, and when the family laptop dies the week a kid has a school project due, or the desktop that runs a small storefront on Smith Street stops booting, you need it fixed fast and fixed honestly. That's the job Dave's Computers has been doing for Middlesex County since 2011 from our shop at 75 N Bridge St in Somerville.
We know there are repair counters closer to the Waterfront, and phone-fix kiosks near the Amboy Cinemas plaza. Here's the difference: we're a diagnostic-first bench shop. You drop the machine off, we run a full $75 diagnostic (credited toward the repair), text you a flat-rate quote, and nothing happens without your OK. No hourly clock, no memberships, and your computer never gets shipped to a warehouse. It stays on our bench until you pick it up.
Customers come to us from every corner of the city: the Waterfront and Harbortown, Budapest, Chickentown, the Smith Street business district, and right across the Victory Bridge from South Amboy. The drive is one road, and most people tell us it's the easiest part of their week.

I engaged "Dave's Computer" to build a new custom build Windows 11 computer as replacement for the Windows 10 machine.
I presented my thoughts and needs to Dave about the new unit and he asked some basic questions as to my needs and want for the new unit. We touched on cost for the unit and I left...
I dropped off my laptop, and Dave gave me a clear overview of the problem (he had experienced similar issues on 3 others of the same model) and the cost. Communication was clear and helpful. Once he started the repairs, he kept me updated. I would absolutely use Dave again!!
I have been going to Dave's Computers for years because he always fixes my problems. I also use his anti-virus and it is as good as any, if not better, than others that I would have to pay much more for. If you're having problems, go to Dave's. He doesn't break the bank and he solves the problems.
Over the last decade or so, whenever I had a computer problem, I went to Dave. I recently had a very worrisome crash; the system failed to boot up. (I hadn't needed to use him for about 3 years.) I paid the "rush fee" on Saturday when dropping the machine off with the weekend agent. By Monday...
"As a Broker of over 40 years in New Jersey I rely on my computer help", which is the artery to my success and business. Thank goodness Dave's is here for me with the messes I get into with scammers, land grabbers and just uneccesary things that I pick up. The most effective virus program have ever...
I had previously tried to build my own PC to no success. Even though right now it is really tough to get a PC built due to the price increases with RAM’s, GPU’s and other parts because of AI, I still really wanted to get one for myself. I came across Dave’s Computers online and went in for a...
About 23 miles, roughly 30 minutes, and it's the easiest drive imaginable: Route 440 North runs directly into I-287 North, and you stay on it until Exit 13 in Somerville. One road.
Why would I drive past closer repair shops?
Fair question. Kiosks and chain counters near Perth Amboy mostly do phone screens or ship computers out to regional depots. We're a dedicated bench shop. Your machine stays in our Somerville building, the same technician has worked here since 2011, and every job gets a flat written quote before work starts.
Do you come to homes in Perth Amboy?
No. We're drop-off only for residential work. It keeps prices flat and quality high. If you can't carry the machine, use our curbside carry-in: park, call, and we come out to your car. For Perth Amboy businesses, on-site projects like network installs can be arranged.
My computer has a fake "virus warning" with a phone number. What do I do?
Don't call that number. It's a scam. Power the machine down and bring it up to us. We remove the scareware, check whether anything was actually installed or accessed, and lock the machine down. We handle these for Middlesex County families every single week.
How fast will I get it back?
Diagnosis within 24 hours for most drop-offs, repairs done within 24–48 hours of your approval. Rush service is available if you're in a bind.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment needed, Mon–Fri 10–5, Sat 9–2. If you're making the drive from Perth Amboy, a quick call ahead never hurts, but walk-ins are welcome.
Do you work on both Windows and Mac?
Yes. Windows laptops and desktops of every brand, plus the full Apple line: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini.
