We're also, frankly, the shop that cleans up after the scammers. Fake Microsoft pop-ups, "your grandson needs gift cards" emails, remote-access programs quietly installed by a "helpful" caller. We see it weekly, we remove it, and we lock the machine down so it's far harder for it to happen again.

No. That's the classic tech-support scam. If they connected, bring the machine in promptly: we remove their remote-access software, check what was touched, and secure everything. If money was mentioned or paid, also call your bank. We handle this weekly for Monroe residents. You are not the only one, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about.
My computer takes ten minutes to start. Worth fixing at my age... I mean, its age?
Usually yes. Nine times out of ten a solid-state drive upgrade makes an older PC boot in under a minute, for far less than a new computer. If yours truly isn't worth it, we'll say so, and moving your files to a new one is a service we do every day.
