Signs the Power Button Has Failed
One of the cheapest parts on the tower, and one of the first to wear out.
The power button gets pressed thousands of times, collects dust and spills, and fails before almost anything else in the machine. The signs are easy to spot: the button needs two or three presses before the tower starts, it feels soft or sticks in, the click is gone, it has to be held at an angle, or some mornings it works and some mornings it doesn't. The power light may glow while the button does nothing.
The reverse happens too. The tower starts by itself overnight, restarts when someone bumps the desk, or shuts down mid-document with nobody near it, because a worn switch sends presses the computer didn't ask for. On many New Jersey office towers, the button has already been coaxed along with a pen cap or a piece of tape by the time it reaches me.
A tower that is completely dead is a different page. If nothing lights and nothing spins, start with my desktop won't turn on page. The button is one of the things I test there, but the power supply and the board are the more likely causes of a fully dead tower.

One flat quote
You get one number for the button repair, parts and labor together, before any work starts. Parts are supplied by the shop with a manufacturer warranty. Nothing beyond the diagnostic is charged until you say yes.
If the diagnostic shows the button was fine and the supply or board is the real problem, you hear that before any quote, because it changes the repair.

The work is done to the manufacturer's service documentation for your model, then the tower is tested on the bench before you're called for pickup.

How do I know it's the power button and not the power supply?
You mostly can't from the outside, and you don't need to. A button that feels mushy, sticks in, has lost its click, or needs three presses is a strong hint. I test the button, the supply and the board in the first part of the diagnostic and tell you which it is.

Yes. Those brands use a power button module specific to the model, and I supply the correct part for your exact tower. On a custom build the button is part of the case, and I supply a matching replacement switch.
My PC turns on by itself, or shuts off when I bump the desk. Is that the button?
Very often, yes. A worn or sticky switch sends presses the board didn't ask for. The same diagnostic and the same repair cover it.
Will I lose anything on my computer?
No. The button and its cable have nothing to do with your drive. Your files, programs and settings come back exactly as they went in.
How long does it take?
Usually one to two days including the diagnostic and a test. If the module for your model has to be ordered, add a day or two.
