I take desktops apart and put them back together the right way: moved into a new case, rebuilt after a rough first build, recabled, recooled and tested under load before you get the call. Custom builds, gaming PCs and boutique prebuilts are all welcome at my Somerville, NJ shop. When a Rebuild or Case Swap Makes Sense
The parts are fine. The way they're put together isn't.
Most PCs that come in for a rebuild don't need new components. They need the ones they have put together properly. These are the situations I see from New Jersey PC owners every month:

What people ask at the counter before handing over the tower.
What is a PC rebuild?
A rebuild means the computer is taken down to its parts, each part is inspected and tested, and the whole thing is put back together properly, in the same case or a new one. People ask for it when a PC was built badly, has become unreliable, runs hot, or is a nest of cables nobody wants to touch.
Can you move my PC into a new case?
Yes. Case swaps are one of the most common rebuilds I do for New Jersey customers. I check that the new case fits your board, graphics card, cooler and power supply before anything is moved, and I supply the case with the job.
Can a Dell, HP or Lenovo tower be moved into a different case?
Sometimes. Many brand towers use boards, power supplies and front-panel connections made only for their own case, and some can't be moved at all. Bring it in and I'll tell you at the counter whether yours is a candidate before you spend anything.
Will I lose my files or have to reinstall Windows?
No. A rebuild or case swap keeps the same drives and the same Windows install. The PC comes back with everything on it as it was. If I find a drive that is failing during testing, you hear about it before anything else happens.
How long does a rebuild or case swap take?
Most are done in two to three days, because the PC is stress tested after it goes back together, not handed over the moment it boots. If a part has to be ordered, you get the date up front.
Can I bring a case I already own?
Yes. Bring the case with the PC and I'll confirm at drop-off that everything fits. If it won't, I'll tell you why and what will.
I built it myself and it won't start. Can you finish it?
Yes, and there's no lecture. Bring the PC and every box and leftover part. I find what's stopping it, put it right, and test it. If a part arrived dead, I'll tell you which one.
