Signs the CPU Cooler Has Failed
The processor cooler is the one fan the computer refuses to run without.
Every desktop has a fan and heat sink on the processor, and the computer watches it closely. When it slows or stalls, you get a warning before Windows loads: CPU fan error, processor fan failure, or a screen that asks for a key press every morning. Dell, HP, Lenovo and custom-built desktops all do some version of this.
When the fan still turns but the cooler isn't doing its job, the signs are quieter: the desktop slows to a crawl a few minutes into anything demanding, it shuts off without warning during a game or a video call, or the fan runs flat out from the moment the tower is switched on. Older office towers around New Jersey often develop a rasp or whine first.
The shutdowns are the processor protecting itself. An overheating desktop is rarely a dead one, but it's a slow, unreliable one, and the heat wears on everything around it.

You get one number for the cooler replacement, parts and labor together, before any work starts. Parts are supplied by the shop with a manufacturer warranty. Nothing beyond the diagnostic is charged until you say yes.
Fresh thermal compound and a bench load test are included, not billed separately.

The work is done to the manufacturer's service documentation for your model, then the tower is tested on the bench before you're called for pickup.

Usually, yes. The board checks the processor fan before Windows loads and stops with a warning when it's slow or stalled. Occasionally the fault is elsewhere, which is why I confirm it on the bench before quoting.

Yes. Those brands use coolers specific to the model, and I supply the correct part for your exact tower. Custom builds get a cooler matched to the processor and the case.
Is this the same as your CPU cooler upgrade or thermal paste service?
No. This page is a repair for a cooler that has failed. The CPU cooler upgrade is for custom builds that want a better cooler, and thermal paste replacement is for a healthy cooler on a tower that runs hot. The diagnostic tells you which one you need.
Will I lose anything on my computer?
No. The cooler sits on the processor and has nothing to do with your drive. Your files, programs and settings come back exactly as they went in.
How long does it take?
